Best Affordable Phones in Kenya this December 2015

So before we all temporarily retire for Christmas holidays and stop doing the usual, here is the list I had promised you long ago. If you are looking for a new phone, or if you are planning to surprise someone this Christmas, this is the list for you. Especially if you are on a budget. So share it with friends after reading. Maybe they’ll buy you something. LOL.

On this list I have affordable phones. Phones I consider to offer amazing specs at very low prices. If you are reading this blog for the first time you probably haven’t seen or heard of some of the phones I will be listing below. But don’t worry. Any phone listed here, with a weird name or not, is genuine. And from a genuine company. I have, where I can, included a link to help you immediately buy the phone

Here we go:

  • Snokor Rocket Z5000

With such a funny company name, Snokor, and a weird device name, Rocket Z5000, what would you expect with a device selling at only Ksh. 6500? Well a 5 inch device with a 1.2GHz Quad Core Processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, 5MP back camera, 2MP front camera and wait for it… (LOL)… a 3600mAh battery! Here’s my review.

I had previously thought this was the phone of the year. Like the very best to expect. Well, that might have changed with the Wiko Slide up there at 10k. Or not. This phone will launch in a few days. 1. Guess who’s got two thumbs and likes pestering poor bloggers about his phone opinions? *does the thumb point thing*This guuuuy. Hahaha. So I was still going through catalogues of phones to consider buying, when I came across a new up and comer. It’s called the leagoo Elite 5. So of course, as with most generic smartphones these days, it had awesome specs for its price: 4G, full HD IPS display (1280×720), running android 5.1 out of the box, 4-freakin-thousand mAh battery, comes with a screen protector, 2gb RAM, 1.0Ghz quad-core processor, 13MP back camera and 8MP front camera, I’m typing this and just realised I could post a link. D-OH! But anyways, yes, I loved the specs, but after getting a crappy H6 without getting any info about its durability and such (No, I will never stop talking about the awful Tecno H6 I got for Christmas), I went ahead and read some amazon customer reviews.
To be honest, I have never come across a phone product this positively reviewed at this phone price (Ksh. 19,200 on Jumia.co.ke as of 21/03/2016).
So I just wanted to tell you that my search is finally over, and that it’s been nice bugging you in your blog. Cheerio mate, and please remember to check it out, I think it’s worth getting the word out there.
Oh, I forgot to mention the lows with considering this phone. It’s a new brand, so after the warranty’s done (1yr), you’re own your own as there isn’t any leagoo service provider in Kenya as of the date mentioned beforehand.
And with that Imma make like Houdini and disappear.

    1. Your hilarious comments….!

The Elite 5 looks nicely designed. But I still don’t see anything that’d warrant it being 19k. At that price I’d rather get the Infinix Zero 3 with 3GB RAM, 20.7MP camera, 3030mAh battery. And then the extra cash remaining I buy internet bundles.

      1. Hahaha, ati buy internet bundles. Ma brend. I’m telling you these days I base most of my options heavily from customer reviews. I wish Kenyans were like that; left reviews on sites on Jumia and stuff I mean (but I’m being a bit hypocritical here I guess, seeing as I’ve given just one, haha). I appreciate the work you guys do, giving info on specs and all, but there’s nothing like knowing it from someone who’s had the thing for like a year and is telling you how the phone handled the aging.
