Onda Obook 10 SE Tablet-Laptop Hybrid Specifications and Price in Kenya

People say the tablet is dead. And big phones are the replacement. And that’s why we’ve seen a lot of tablets becoming hybrids in a bid to try and offer more functionality and even rival laptops.

A hybrid here means, you can detach it and use it as a tablet, re-attach it and use as a laptop.

The Onda Obook 10 SE comes running Remix OS. I’ve talked about Remix OS extensively here. Jide is the company that works on Remix OS in a bid to make Android more useful and with a more familiar desktop UI.

TECNO recently announced a Remix OS tablet which I wrote about here. If you can’t afford the TECNO DroiPad 10 Pro 2 which goes for about Ksh. 26k, this might be your fall back as it goes for about Ksh. 18,000 together with they keyboard.

Here are the Onda Obook 10 SE Specifications:

  • 10.1 inch IPS display with 1280×800 resolution
  • Intel Bay Trail Z3735F Quad Core 1.33GHz (up to 1.83GHz) Processor
  • Intel HD Graphic Gen7 GPU
  • 2GB DDR3L RAM
  • 32GB internal storage (expandable to 128GB)
  • HDMI out port, 3.5mm headphone jack
  • 2MP front camera
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • 5400mAh battery

The keyboard adds some more ports to be used.

I think I would totally love using such a device. With 32GB internal, all I’ll need is to get an external SSD or HDD to have my files and stuff (which I happen to no longer have with the coming of cloud storage).

Detached keyboard

The RAM would be considerably my biggest drawback on this device. But remember, this cannot be your laptop if you want to use it for heavy tasks.

The best things to do on an Onda Obook 10 SE include:

  • Web browsing: streaming, reading, social media
  • Typing
  • Music
  • Video watching; Netflix, YouTube etc
  • Light gaming

For me, battery life seems promising at 5400mAh and I’m optimistic one can eek out some good hours using the device without battery low notification.

The tablet alone currently costs Ksh. 13000 on Kilimall. The magnetically attached Keyboard goes for Ksh. 4600 making everything cost about Ksh. 18500 including delivery to where you are.

It seems like a good device to have and I will try and get it for a full review. The other expected drawback would be Remix OS whose future we still don’t know.

What do you think? Would you get one?
