Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is Official. Here’s Everything you Need Know

Features an Iris Scanner, a VR set, USB type-C and a new S-Pen

Samsung officially launched the new phone in their Note Series: the Galaxy NOTE 7.

If you are a follower or lover of the Note series, you understand that the last in the series was the Galaxy Note 5. So there’s no Galaxy Note 6. And the reason for this is simple. This is a new device and naming it 6 when most handsets are now on 7 would make it feel old. This is because the Galaxy S series is already at Galaxy S7. Apple is also gearing up to launch the iPhone 7. So the naming makes sense.

The Galaxy Note 7 is also the first device in the world to feature the new Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Which is not only exciting, but also assures more protection for your device.

Specifications:

  • 5.7-inch 2560×1440 Super AMOLED Dual edge screen with Gorilla Glass 5 protection
  • Octa Core Exynos Processor
  • 4GB RAM
  • 64GB internal storage (this will be the least on-board storage size from now on)
  • Micro SD slot expandable to 256GB
  • 12MP rear camera
  • 5MP front camera
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Iris Scanner
  • USB type-C

USB type-C

GalaxyNote7 VR Kit

Finally Samsung decided to accept the future on the Note 7. And since the existing VR kits wouldn’t work with type-C, Samsung had to make a custom VR kit for the Note 7, and so people will be getting a VR Kit for this phone called “Gear VR for Galaxy Note 7” at $99.

4GB RAM:

The OnePlus 3’s 6GB RAM would still feel much compared to the Note 7’s 4GB, but that doesn’t mean the Note 7 has any performance issues. Or that it is slower than the OnePlus 3.

Iris Scanner:

Security has gone up with the Note 7 as it now features an Iris scanner. Fingerprint scanners are not mainstream.

S-Pen:

The improved S-Pen is now water resistant. There are more pen styles, and it is much more sensitive for better accuracy and ease of use.

Availability:

The device will be available globally from August 19th. The retail price in Kenya will be about Ksh. 90,000.

Pre-orders in Kenya open from 8th August and everyone pre-ordering will get the new VR Kit free.

One more thing, the coral blue Note 7 is amazing!
