Something about LG’s flagships is that there’s always something exciting with every device. That didn’t go quite well with the G5 last year’s attempt at modularity.
Many would want to argue that “modularity is dead” before even starting. But they are wrong. We just haven’t discovered the best way around modular smartphones. Sometime in the future we will, I’m sure. Though Project Ara by Google was shelved, something will come up soon.
This year, with the G6, LG decided not to do anything crazy. Nothing on modularity. Just make a really beautiful phone. The only crazy thing is the huge display on a very small form-factor gadget.
It is a 5.7 inch phone that is smaller than most would expect with a weird display 2:1 aspect ratio instead of the usual.
The design of the phone is exciting; made fully from metal and glass with Gorilla Glass5 protection at the back making it tough and durable and Gorilla Glass3 at the front making it scratch resistant.
The curved back reminds us of Samsung’s display designs but the front is solid flat.
It is also IP68 certified device. So it is dust and water resistant and users won’t worry about getting it out to answer texts or find directions in case it is raining.

The LG G6 is also the first non-Google phone to ship with Google Assistant as the rest of Android devices wait on Google’s promise to have Assistant on Marshmallow and Nougat in the coming days.
