Xiaomi’s Triple Threat: The Pocophone, Redmi Note 6 and Mi A2 Lite now available

Xiaomi is a company that would do very well in Kenya with very little effort. Although many Kenyans are still not yet familiar with the brand, their devices speak for themselves upon use.

This is a company that come 2019 will – I am calling it – shake up the phone market in Kenya. I hope they don’t stop with phones. They have much more to offer. I hope we can see their TVs, plus their smart home devices. Just a full push of their products over here.

Hopefully, the fact that they’re bringing in three new devices to the market is enough testament. It is a threat to others as much as it is a treat to us. Starting 18th December, 2018 from their Official Store on Jumia you can get the following devices:

  • PocoPhone F1 – Ksh. 32,999
  • Redmi Note 6 Pro and Redmi Note 6 – Ksh. 23,999 and Ksh. 19,999 respectively
  • Mi A2 Lite – Ksh. 16,599

The Mi A2 Lite will be a great budget deal. Because at that price you’ll be getting an Android One device that’s currently receiving Android 9 Pie. It has 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, a FullHD display, the Snapdragon 625 Processor, plus a huge 4100mAh battery.

The Redmi Note 6 is a follow up to the Note 5 which was my first Xiaomi phone, one I really loved. The Pro has 4GB RAM, 64GB storage while the normal has 3GB RAM, 32GB storage. There’s a 20MP selfie camera, and a dual 12MP+5MP rear setup. There’s a Snapdragon 636 Processor and a 4000mAh battery.

The Pocophone F1 on the other hand is one of the most talked about phones this year. It came in second on @MKBHD’s ‘Best Camera’ blind test. It is a sad thing Xiaomi is bringing these devices very late. But all the same, 6GB RAM, 64GB storage, a Snapdragon 845 processor, and a huge 4000mAh battery at 32k isn’t a bad deal.

Also, for those like me who love the Mi Max series, the Mi Max 3 is available for Ksh. 27,000.

I am looking forward to reviewing these devices and sharing my thoughts with you. Which device are you definitely buying?
