In February I wrote a post titled “2019 is the year of Budget Smartphones“. We had seen Xiaomi announce the Redmi Note 7 (which is coming to Kenya end of March), Samsung with their M-series (which may not be coming to Kenya), Huawei’s Y-series (check out my reviews), and the Nokia 2019 series (which will all be available in Kenya). All of which are good smartphones with great pricing.
I had hoped to see the Samsung M-series make its way to Kenya, but unfortunately as it stands, there’s nothing to show this will be happen. But not to worry, because Samsung during the Official Galaxy S10 launch in Kenya confirmed they will be bringing the new A-series for 2019 line-up to Kenya.
This is a lineup of the Galaxy A10, Galaxy A20, Galaxy A30, Galaxy A50, and the Galaxy A70. All of which, though not confirmed, are expected to range between $200 and $400 (some of course could go lower than $200).
They are all a new design from Samsung with tiny waterdrop notches. And they will all come running Android 9 Pie.
Since some of these devices are yet to be official in any other markets, not all their specifications are confirmed. But once confirmed there will be posts on this site outlining both full specs, and pricing.
The Galaxy A30 and A50 are already official though, and their reviews online point to pretty exciting smartphones. Especially with the A50’s under-the-display fingerprint scanner.
I can’t wait to see how aggressive the company will be this time round with pushing their devices for the mid-range and budget segments. The good thing is for us consumers, prices will go lower while specs get better as companies fight for market share.
