Samsung launches the Galaxy A30 and A50 in Kenya

Samsung has brought to the Kenyan market two new devices from their new 2019 Galaxy A-series. These are the Galaxy A30 and the Galaxy A50 both of which were announced back in February, and are sort of a new direction for the company in terms of pricing versus specs.

They both have tiny teardrop notches (which I believe is a better look than punch holes), and are part of Samsung’s future plans to make their devices all display without a notch – Full Infinity.

The Galaxy A30 comes with a 6.4 inch Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The back cameras are 16MP main shooter + 5MP ultra wide lens. The selfie camera is 16MP. It is powered by a 14nm Exynos processor with 3/4GB RAM and 32/64GB storage. It has USB type-C and packs a huge 4000mAh battery. Which should mean some crazy good battery life. Its recommended retail price in Kenya is KSH. 22,499.

The Galaxy A50 on the other hand is the first mid-range smartphone to hit the Kenyan market with an under-the-display fingerprint scanner. It also has USB type-C and a 4000mAh battery. It is powered by a 10nm Exynos processor with 4/6GB RAM and 64/128GB storage. It has three cameras at the back: 25MP main lens + 8MP Ultra Wide Angle Lens + 5MP depth sensor. The selfie camera is 25MP. It will retail at KSH. 30,499 and is very aggressively priced to under-cut many expensive phones in the market.

Checkout the recommended articles below for Full Specifications of the two phones. Both are available countrywide in Samsung Experience Stores, Phonelink stores and all other authorized outlets.

I am ready for the new wave in smartphone price wars. Samsung has been making bad decisions with budget phones and it is about time they work their way up. Remember these aren’t the only phones they’ll be bringing to Kenya for their A-series lineup. They confirmed the A10 and A20 too, and I can’t wait to see the prices for those when they launch.
