It is now more than obvious Xiaomi wants to be the world’s number one maker, and seller of smartphones. Their constant announcements, updates, and overall push in launching, and refreshing devices is crazy. The best thing is it is impossible to pick a single Xiaomi device and criticize it for poor design choices, poor spec-list, or bad pricing. All their phones are well-spec’d and well priced.
For years now, they have had a line of pure Android devices. The Mi A1 was crazy good, the Mi A2 plus Mi A2 Lite had their fair share of glory, and now the Mi A3 is here with even better offerings.
First: an OLED display. Yes resolution is 720p max, but it is OLED. And that’s okay. Because the OLED display brings something from High End devices: an under-display fingerprint scanner. I hope the scanner is fast enough to justify Xiaomi’s decision to ditch the capacitive scanners. If not, it will be a big fail.
Second: The cameras. A triple lens setup consisting of a 48MP main lens, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Plus a 32MP selfie camera.
Third: The price! The phone starts €250 for 4GB RAM, 64GB storage. This year, the storage is expandable. Plus there is the Snapdragon 665 powering everything.
Hopefully, the Mi A3 cameras perform quite good. Because as far as I can tell, I would pick this deal over even Google’s Pixel 3A deal. It’s actually funny because Xiaomi decided to be a little cheeky this year with the colours of the new Mi A3. LOL, there’s Kind of Gray, Not just Blue, and More than White colours. This funny naming scheme is something we first saw with Google Pixel phones.

Not really an upgrade, weak Chipset, worse display smaller overall screen. This would be an upgrade to the mi A2 lite, not the A2
I think the display is a downgrade from the Mi A 2. I also expected an upgrade of the snapdragon to probably 710. The only reason that will make me buy the Mi A 3 is the return of the earphone slot
Looks like a great device. Now am at pains whether to go for this one or the Redmi Note 7. Any ideas?
