OPPO A9 (2020) officially goes on sale in Kenya for KES. 30,000

OPPO Kenya has announced the availability of the OPPO A9 (2020) in Kenya. They had promised to bring the phone to the country earlier on. The phone will be available for a recommended retail price of KES. 29,999.

The company has also launched the OPPO A5 (2020) that will cost KES. 23,999. It comes with different specs, which you can check out down below. There’s different camera lenses, and different RAM options. The processor remains the same though.

At 30K, the OPPO A9 (2020) is at the perfect mid-range spot worldwide, but also at the higher end of the budget for many Kenyans. The good thing is you’re getting an 11nm Snapdragon 665 which is a new age processor introduced this year. You’re also getting 8GB RAM, which isn’t something you always see on 30k devices. You can expect good performance, and great battery life as the battery is 5000mAh in size.

There’s a Quad Lens setup at the back with a 48MP main lens, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and two 2MP sensors.

What’s important to note is that you’re getting a 720p panel. Which is totally unacceptable for that price. Phones as low as KES. 15,000 come with 1080p panels, which means better quality videos when streaming, and also just better general use.

You’re also getting a Micro-USB charging port, which for a 2020 phone is crazy. Xiaomi recently announced the Redmi 8A which is a sub $100 phone yet it packs USB type-C!
