Infinix NOTE 8 Review

The video shows camera samples; both still images and videos. Plus goes in-depth on a couple of other things. Watch it.

The Infinix NOTE 8 is my favourite NOTE to date. But before you take that out of context, let me tell you the things I don’t quite like about it:

  1. The User Interface sucks – I’ve talked about this a lot, I hope Infinix is listening.
  2. The cameras aren’t that good – but they’re okay.
  3. The USB type-C port doesn’t accept all chargers for some reason – but thanks goodness it is type-C not microUSB.
  4. And the phone will probably not get updates on time – Infinix please!

Anyway I like this phone. And this is my review after a long time using it.

Infinix NOTE 8 Review

I want to keep this as short as possible. So let’s discuss a couple of things quickly.

The best things about the Infinix NOTE 8:

  1. First, the battery life is great. You won’t have an issue with it. However, if you’re in the USB type-C world, you will notice that the phone doesn’t accept all chargers. Powerful chargers like ones from laptops, and tablets won’t charge the device.
  2. Second, the display looks good. Yes, this is a 720p panel  and there’s no high refresh rate, but it looks good. I only hate the fact that youtube videos are capped at 720p. Infinix messed up with the decision to go 720 instead of 1080 like with the NOTE 4.
  3. Third thing, the cameras are meh, they don’t stand out in any way from many of the cameras from Infinix and TECNO at this price point. They’re not terrible, but they’re not the best. You will take good pictures if you try. Portrait modes pics aren’t really good though.
  4. The design is good, and even though it is a huge phone, it feels good in the hand.

So I’ve said this is my favourite NOTE to date, and if you’re wondering why. Well…

Why the Infinix NOTE 8 is my favourite NOTE to date:

  1. The huge display makes this a really good device for media consumption. Yes, despite the fact that it isn’t full HD, consuming media from it is really good. Especially reading books, articles, or even magazines if you do that.
  2. The performance is really good. Really good. This is the best performing NOTE to date from Infinix thanks to the gaming processor included. And it better be. Apps load fast, switching between them is easy. And it feels over all like a really good phone.
  3. The fingerprint scanner at the side is way better than say having a terrible under-display scanner. I like it. It is fast and accurate.
  4. The phone marks an important departure by the company from the boring devices of the past. Here we have a good performing device with a huge battery, future proof-ed by the type-C port, designed well, and bringing in more RAM and Storage at a low budget. At this price point, I feel like though I cannot say the NOTE 8 is the best device currently, I can say it is really good, and one to be considered. That’s most especially because of its performance compared to competition.
