The Huawei GR5 from last year was loved. It went for Ksh. 28,000.
It is 2017, and the specs have been bumped up, together with the price to bring the GR5 2017 version.
Dual Cameras are the in-thing now, and the GR5 isn’t missing out on this. It now costs more at Ksh. 35,000.
Here are the full specs list:
Display | 5.5″ IPS Full HD |
Processor | Octa-Core, Kirin 655 |
Memory and Storage | 3GB RAM with 32GB Storage or 4GB RAM with 64GB storage |
Back Cameras | Dual Setup 12 MP plus 2 MP camera |
Front Camera | 8 MP camera |
Operating System | Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 skin |
Battery | 3270mAh |
Network | Supports 4G |
Security | Fingerprint sensor |
Comparing it with last year’s GR5 makes you realise this is a completely different device.
Everything has changed. From processor to cameras, to RAM and storage, to the battery and the Android version. It even looks thinner.
It is a good thing when a company decides to keep at it with one device, a mid ranger here, updating it every one or two years.
Huawei says the phone can do one and a half days on a single charge and that it is made for tech trendsetters.
I’ll try and get one for review and then we can test out the battery life. Though to be honest I’m more excited about the camera setup and the kind of pictures it takes.
