TECNO Camon CX; Here are features you should expect

16MP Front camera with dual Flash. 16MP back camera with Ring Flash.

Many of us are waiting for the TECNO Camon CX which will also be accompanied with the Camon CX Air whose specs or look (or anything to be honest) we still don’t know.

But I now have a little more details on the upcoming Camon CX. And the best part of everything remains the cameras.

The Camon Series has constantly focused on cameras. Previously we’ve had the Camon C8 and the Camon C9 which featured a 13MP front and back camera.

Kindly note these are details I’ve gathered based on rumors and “leaks” from websites online. Not everything is 100% correct. Though most is :-)

Front Camera:

Well, seems TECNO will be bumping up specs from the C9! The Front camera on the CX will be 16MP. And not just that, it will come with dual LED Flash.

Notice the Camera and dual LED Flash

Yes, a 16MP Front camera with dual LED flash. You might be saying wow! I’m honestly thinking, won’t we be going blind with all that light?

The front camera is expected to be the “Best Selfie Camera”. It will be capable of 120 degree wide angle selfies. That means a selfie that can capture a crowd.

Back camera:

If you’re not so much into front cameras, well… the back camera will be an “ultra-pixel” 16MP. Included below the ultra-pixel less will be a ring flash.

The Top is 16MP camera. Below it is ring flash which I’m not sure if features another shooter at the centre or is purely ring flash.

Whether the ring flash will be around another camera sensor (to make it dual cameras), I still don’t know. Maybe there are two cameras. But most likely not. What is sure is that below the 16MP ultra-pixel sensor there’s a RING FLASH.

Display:

Smartphones are getting cheap. Plus the Camon series of phones have never been an expensive, and I am not expecting that to change even as we know for sure that the device will come with Full HD (1080p) 5.5 inch screen.

I think the Camon CX Air is the one that will have dual cameras and a 6 inch display

RAM & Storage:

Sticking with the price factor, I still very much expect 2GB RAM and 16GB storage for the CX and maybe 3GB RAM and 32/64GB storage for the CX Air.

Design:

We all know this phone will eerily resemble an iPhone in general design. Not just that however. This phone will be fully metal and be very slim/thin.

The front appears to feature 2.5D curved glass meaning a very nice visually appealing front look. Which could suggest protection like Gorilla Glass because putting those glass screen protectors on 2.5D curved screens is just a no no.

Processor and Battery:

Most of what I’ve gathered point to a 1.5GHz Octa Core Processor and 3200mAh battery. How a 3200mAh battery performs on a full HD screen is something I seriously want to test out after being used to 4000mAh+ batteries.

Close up on the 16MP Camera. Which kinda proves that there’s one camera on the Camon CX with ring flash below it

Android Version:

It will come running Android Nougat 7.0 that’s a must. On top of this, there’ll be TECNO’s signature HiOS but now stripped down and ‘flatter’.

Extras:

  • Fingerprint reader
  • Dedicated camera button (as usual on Camon series)
  • Many many filters

Launch and Availability:

The TECNO Camon CX and CX are launching globally on Thurday 23rd March in an event that will be held at Safari Park Hotel Nairobi, Kenya.

I am expecting the devices to be available in Kenya immediately. The availability for other regions/countries might be different or maybe also immediately.

What are your thoughts on this phone? Feeling excited or feeling meh?
