It is not easy to find someone with a Sony smartphone nowadays, but the company still exists and they still make flagships. Their most recent announcement is the Sony XZ3 which is basically an XZ2 with a new display, new operating system, and a slightly bigger battery.
The XZ2 hasn’t been around for more than 10 months, yet the XZ3 which will be available starting October, is already official. Sony has kept the same design language, with that curved screen, the centre placed fingerprint scanner, and the single 19MP back camera. Sony has also stuck with 4GB RAM.
The new additions however include AI features, the new larger OLED screen and gestures. The phone will learn your usage and suggest apps based on time and location using a side tap feature where you tap to the right side of the phone to access suggestions. Raising the phone in horizontal mode will quickly launch the camera and take pictures so you don’t miss a moment. You will still be able to shoot 960fps slow motion videos in 1080p with the new Sony XZ3.
This will be among the first phones to ship with Android 9 Pie out of the box. It will cost $900 and, yes of course, that pricing and these specs will make you probably reconsider. Unless you’re a big Sony fanatic. Remember the Poco F1 is only 329 Euros.
