HMD Global has officially brought the Nokia 6.1 Plus – first launched as the Nokia X6 in some markets – to Kenya. And if you’ve been waiting for it, here’s your chance at a nicely built, very well designed smartphone with no bloatware, and assured updates as it is part of Google’s Android One Program.
If you love the notch-trend, you’re in for a treat as the smartphone features a cut-out at the top to accommodate the earpiece and the 16MP selfie camera. It isn’t as atrocious as other notches, as Nokia went with a smaller sized cut-out which means your notifications and icons won’t be missing.
I’ve interacted with the phone before. A friend imported one some months ago. Which shows that there’s interest in devices, if only HMD Global Kenya can be availing them in time.
With a Snapdragon 636 and 4GB of RAM, you’re getting a device that can handle most of your tasks pretty well, that’s including gaming. I don’t know how this processor, and that 5.8 inch display affect the overall battery life as the phone packs a relatively small 3060mAh battery.
At it’s price range, the phone is competing directly with the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 (Snapdragon 845), and the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 (Snapdragon 636). Remember the Max 3 has an incredible 5500mAh battery.
