The OPPO F11 Pro is now in Kenya. Pre-orders are live from today to the 1st of May, and the phones will be in shops countrywide from the 2nd of May. The F11 series features two devices:
- OPPO F11 – Ksh. 29,999
- OPPO F11 Pro – Ksh. 39,999
The difference between these two devices is very minimal and personally I would, given no other choice in terms of other brands, pick the F11 because with the Pro, the only pro element I figured is the pop-up selfie OPPO calls ‘rising camera’.
During launch, OPPO talked about their shift from “Selfie Expert” to “Portrait Master” with their new 48MP+5MP back cameras, and the 16MP selfie shooter. They said the new lenses are really good for low light photography.
In terms of software for the camera, there’s AI to optimise different scenes and there’s also two new modes: Ultra-Night Mode which I really want to check out as it promises amazing photography in very low light, and Dazzle Colour Mode which is used when taking portraits and as described by OPPO “has intergrated skin colour control module… and can perform skin colour mapping and face detection”.
There’s still no USB type-C but both models support VOOC 3.0 Super fast charging that promises 80mins for a full 0-100% charge. The F11 has a 4020mAh battery, while the F11 Pro has a 4000mAh battery.
At 40k, the F11 Pro is pretty expensive. It competes with the new Samsung A70 and that’s not a very good place to be in right now given Samsung’s new push, and the really great specs of the Samsung A70. On the other hand, at 30k, the normal F11 is entering another wild war: there’s Huawei P30 Lite and the Samsung Galaxy A50. Tough competition.
What are your thoughts on the F11 and F11 Pro? Which one would you pick between the two, and why?
