The new phone from Infinix is pretty exciting for the company. It is their first device to feature a motorised pop-up selfie camera and it could also, if some sources are to be trusted, be their first with a 48MP camera. If you’ve read the specs of the new Camon 15 series, you know that these are/should be the same device as one from the series.
Infinix is expanding the S5 lineup which already has the normal Infinix S5 and the S5 Lite. In total there will now be 6 Infinix S5 phones if each variant is to offer 2 versions for RAM and Storage. This could be very confusing to people who don’t have full information on all the devices.
The pop-up selfie camera is a 16MP f/2.0 wide-angle lens. Other information claim it could be a 40MP lens. Like all other phones with pop-up lenses, it is considerably more fragile than other phones would be with normal designs. Infinix hasn’t said how many times the lens will be retractable, and we are not yet sure if it will retract when it notices a fall, or if it pressed hard. When I get a review unit, these are the things I’ll be checking.
The S5 Pro has a Helio P35 SoC with 4GB RAM. It runs Android 10 with XOS 6.0 skin. The official model has 64GB of storage onboard with 4GB RAM. There could be a 6/128GB model too.
In the camera department, there’s a triple camera setup, which includes a 48MP main, 2MP depth, and low-light sensors. Information from other sources state the main camera could be 16MP, not 48MP.
The device could be available in Kenya from mid to end of March, and will also be the first phone from Infinix to come out of the box with Android 10. The company has only updated one phone with Android 10, and that’s the now-dated Infinix NOTE 5.
