Alongside the Huawei Y6p, Huawei is also bringing in the Y8p to the Kenyan market with preorders expected to start next week from June 15th. Like the Y6p and other recently launched Huawei smartphones, the new Y8p will also not support Google Apps instead running Huawei Mobile Services.

The Y8p seems to be a rebranded Huawei Enjoy 10s that was launched in China last year. There’s a triple rear camera setup made up of a 48MP main lens. Device is powered by a 4,000mAh battery. The processor is the Kirin 710F which we’ve seen on many of their devices already. There’s a waterdrop-style notch on top of the display that houses a 16-megapixel selfie camera. There could be 4GB and 6GB of RAM options, with 128GB storage.

Huawei is pushing really good specs at very competitive prices to try and lure people to their new ecosystem that’s currently free from Google. We believe the approach seems to be working because of the huge influx of smartphones they’ve been launching in Kenya. The Y8p could be the cheapest under-display fingerprint scanner device in the market if the estimated price of between KES. 22,000 and KES. 24,000 is what Huawei goes with.
