Infinix HOT 10i Android Go Phone Officially Launched

It has been a while since I covered an Android Go device. These are basically phones with less than 2GB RAM, and running a stripped version of Android with lite apps so as to ensure everything is smooth. Up until last year, Android Go Phones featured 1GB RAM or less. Google updated the requirements of Android and that’s why 2GB RAM devices nowadays fall under Android Go phones.

The Infinix HOT 10i, is an Android 11 Go Edition smartphone. It comes with 2GB RAM, and either 32GB or 64GB storage. For the 32GB model, you will need kES 11,499 while for the 64GB model, you will need KES 12,599.

I wish they priced the 32GB storage model at KES 9,999. That would have been super. It would have been cause for me to update my best under 10k list, and put this device in that list.

Android Go phones are not bad. You can run both the lite/Go Apps or go all in and use the full official apps. Your experience with apps will vary with how well optimised they are for the limited RAM and processing power your phone has. With the 2GB of RAM and the Helio G25 processor on the Infinix HOT 10i, you will be able to do a lot of stuff with no issues.

The display is a 6.52″ inch IPS panel supporting 720p resolution. Infinix calls it a sunlight display as it gets plenty bright for use even outdoors.

There’s a 13MP dual camera setup at the back. You can expect moderately good photos from the sensors. Same is the case for the 8MP selfie camera. The good thing is this: Infinix remains one of the very smartphone makers in the world that includes not only a quad-flash setup at the back, but also a flash for when taking selfies in low light.

There’s a fingerprint scanner at the back – and it works pretty well to allow you unlock your phone easily, and securely. Nowadays it is also a great feature for people with mobile money and banking apps – for when validating transactions.

The phone has a huge 6000mAh battery with a 10W charger (over microUSB) included in the box.
