Foldables are being pushed to the mainstream. Samsung has already made their Galaxy Z Fold3 and Flip3 the main devices for 2021/22. Instead of the NOTE devices, their final year event will now be launching Foldables. They’re way ahead of many other phone makers, and they will steadily be reducing prices over the coming years to bring more customers on board.
Meanwhile Huawei’s foldable Mate X has been receiving updates and refreshes to make it even better. That’s all while Xiaomi’s first foldable is yet to be available to the public.
Motorola’s foldable from last year received lots of positive reviews and the company might be working on something else.
TCL has released lots of prototypes, and recently even shared an abandoned project due to the proposed price of the device being undercut by Samsung’s Z Flip3.
But the big question is this: Do you need a foldable phone? Really?
Should we be ready for a shift in the devices we buy, or is this just another fad? We sat down to discuss these and more questions.
