For a couple of hours, Telkom Kenya users have been experiencing issues. Users have reported not being able to make calls, and not being able to access data. Users have also reported not being able to access customer care services.
Internet observatory firm, NetBlocks, has reported that the Kenyan telco is experiencing a nation-scale outage. The interruption affects its GSM and global data with real-time network data showing that connectivity is at 9% of ordinary levels.
Telkom Kenya on the other hand has a few minutes ago tweeted confirming the outage. The company says, “We are currently experiencing a service interruption on our GSM Prepaid Services, and Global data. We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.”
This article will be updated with more information once that’s available.
Update:
Although some users are still reporting having issues, Telkom Kenya now says, “We have managed to improve network in most parts of the country and we continue doing so. Please remain patient as soon you will experience improved network coverage.”
The Telco is advising users still facing issues to restart their devices
