Both the Infinix HOT 12 Play and the TECNO Spark 8P are available in the country. They cost almost the same price but have a couple of things that are different about them. This article covers the differences between the two phones to help you choose which one to get.
The HOT 12 Play was launched a few weeks ago, while the Spark 8P came to the market at the end of last year. Both are available offline through retails shops and online through Jumia.
Display:
Both phones feature a 6.8 inch display. But there’s a significant difference between each. The Spark 8P has a Full HD resolution while the HOT 12 Play has a 720p panel. However, the HOT 12 Play supports 90Hz refresh rates while the Spark 8P only supports 60Hz.
Performance:
The Infinix HOT 12 Play is the clear leader here. It has the Helio G85 processor while the Spark 8P has the low-level Helio G35 processor. Both come with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage.
Cameras:
The Spark 8P is the clear winner here in terms of number of Megapixels. It has a 50MP rear camera. The camera on the HOT 12 Play is 13MP. The selfie camera on both is 8MP.
Software:
The Infinix HOT 12 Play comes with Android 12 out of the box. Meanwhile the Spark 8P has Android 11. It will be good to get the newer device because these phones normally don’t get updated frequently, and you’re probably stuck with the version of Android the phone shipped with.
Battery:
In terms of battery the HOT 11 Play is also the clear winner offering a 6000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. The Spark 8P offers a 5000mAh cell only supporting 10W charging. Both charge over a USB Type-C port.
Which one to get:
Between the two which one do you prefer? I would choose the HOT 12 Play because its newer, has a better battery and supports higher refresh rates. However the fact that the Spark 8P has a better resolution, and a 50MP camera, could be a reason to consider it over the HOT 12 Play.
