Peugeot Landtrek Pick-up truck launched in Kenya

Peugeot has officially launched its latest pick-up truck, the Peugeot Landtrek, into the Kenyan market. The truck is suitable for both professional and family needs and is fitted with comfort equipment from Peugeot’s SUVs, while still being capable on all terrains.

The vehicle was officially unveiled at the French Embassy by the French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, Mr. Olivier Becht, who stated that the launch of the Peugeot Landtrek in Kenya is a testament to the strong partnership between France and Kenya.

What they said:

“Introduction of the Peugeot Landtrek into the Kenyan market marks the beginning of a new era for Peugeot in Kenya because for the first time in over 30 years, Peugeot pickups will make a comeback to Kenyan roads. I am confident that the Kenyan people will appreciate the vehicle’s outstanding performance and exceptional design, which make it an ideal partner for any adventure or professional undertaking.” said Mr. Becht.

On his part, Urysia Limited Managing Director Mr. Claude Mwende noted that the Landtrek is well suited for the Kenyan pick-up market needs:

We believe that it is an exceptional vehicle that offers the perfect combination of robustness, loading capacity, modern and attractive style, and exceptional adaptability, making it well-suited to the Kenyan market. As Kenya’s official Peugeot distributor, Urysia is committed to providing Peugeot customers with the very best, and the new Peugeot Landtrek is a testament to that commitment. We invite everyone to come and experience this remarkable vehicle at our showroom.”

Peugeot Local Assembly in Kenya:

The launch of the Peugeot Landtrek comes six years after Urysia and PSA Groupe signed an agreement with the Kenyan Government to commence local assembly of Peugeot vehicles. In the same year (2017), former President Uhuru Kenyatta and President Emmanuel Macron officially launched the Peugeot 3008 SUV – the first passenger vehicle to be locally assembled in Kenya. At present, Urysia assembles vehicles locally at Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers in Thika.

Peugeot Landtrek Specifications:

The new Peugeot Landtrek offers up to three tons of towing capacity and a payload that exceeds one ton, making it one of the most accommodating cargo beds in the segment.

The vehicle is further designed to provide exceptional adaptability, robustness, loading capacity, and modern attractive style, perfectly in line with the Peugeot identity. The exterior design incorporates all Peugeot’s codes: vertical grille with the Lion in the center and vertical LED light signatures.

The infotainment system features a 10” HD screen supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, together with a 10 GB hard drive. There are also “toggle switches” that provide access to all functions.

Special attention is paid to the three rear passengers, with backrests tilted to 23° for even greater comfort. The modularity of the rear bench seat in the Landtrek Double Cab adds enormous versatility to the cabin, with the possibility of folding the backrest in 60/40 or 100%. When folded down, the backrests can support a load of up to 100kg, and two ISOFIX fasteners ensure the safety and docking of child seats.

The vehicle is designed for all uses and has high performance on all roads, with the 1.9-liter turbodiesel associated with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and develops 110kW thanks to a variable turbine geometry with 16 valves.

The Peugeot Landtrek also comes equipped with a mechanical rear differential lock providing extra traction when one wheel slips, allowing for easy transfer between 2-high, 4-high, and 4-low modes with the simple turn of the rotary switch.

Peugeot says it worked closely with the best international suppliers from Europe, Japan, and the USA, amongst others, to design this vehicle, ensuring it targets the best standards on the market. More than two million test kilometers were covered, across all terrains and in all conditions, confirming the robustness and adaptation of the new Peugeot Landtrek to the uses and needs of customers in the Middle East and Africa region.

A complete range of customized accessories for the new Peugeot Landtrek will be available in the Peugeot network, with more than twenty-eight dedicated accessories.

Safety is ensured by six airbags and an Electronic Stability Programme that includes Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, and Trailer Swing Control which acts automatically as soon as the trailer veers out of line. Drivers can also count on the Lane Departure Warning on the range-topping 4Action.
