The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has unveiled the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results. In a departure from the traditional SMS-based retrieval method, this year, you need to use the official KNEC website. This marks a significant shift in how students and parents access crucial educational results.
In previous years, candidates also accessed their KCSE results via an SMS code. However, following the 2023 announcement, over 903,260 students who sat for the exams must now adapt to a one sole method of result retrieval.
KNEC’s decision could stem from difficulties experienced during the release of the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results. Recognizing these challenges, CS Machogu of the Ministry of Education announced the discontinuation of the SMS service for checking national examination results. Instead, results are now accessible online through KNEC’s official website or directly via the URL: www.results.knec.ac.ke.
How to Access KCSE 2023 Results:
- Visit the KNEC Website: Candidates or their guardians should visit the specified URL: http://www.results.knec.ac.ke/.
- Enter Credentials: The portal requires entering the candidate’s index number and names as registered for the 2023 KCSE exams.
- Submission and Display: Upon submitting the correct details, the system displays the results on the screen.
To ensure a smooth transition to this new system, KNEC has reportedly engaged engineers to enhance the website’s functionality (though it keeps going down). This move aims to prevent the technical glitches experienced with the SMS system in the past.
While online results offer immediate access, official result slips will still be distributed through the examination centers where candidates sat for their exams.
