Huawei Launches Registration for 2024-2025 ICT Competition in Kenya

Huawei Kenya has officially opened registration for the 2024-2025 ICT Competition, aimed at university and technical college students pursuing ICT-related courses. This annual competition, held in collaboration with leading universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across the country, serves as a key initiative in Huawei’s commitment to fostering digital talent and enhancing ICT skills among the youth.

Aligned with Kenya’s digital transformation agenda, the Huawei ICT Competition provides a platform for students to showcase their expertise in critical areas such as networking, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), 5G technology, and cybersecurity. The competition allows participants to gain practical experience, access comprehensive training materials, and connect with industry professionals, contributing to the overall development of Kenya’s ICT sector.

Fostering ICT Leaders for Kenya’s Digital Future

“As we embark on the journey to create a digitally empowered Kenya, this competition is an integral part of developing the next generation of ICT leaders. Through initiatives like the ICT Competition, we are offering students in Kenya a platform to showcase their talent, gain practical skills, and contribute to the country’s digital economy,” said Michael Kamau, Partnerships and Corporate Affairs Manager at Huawei Kenya.

The competition not only sharpens participants’ ICT skills but also provides them with free access to learning resources, mentorship from experts, and opportunities to earn industry-recognized certifications. Additionally, top-performing students stand to win exciting prizes, which may include job offers from Huawei and its partners. High achievers will also earn the chance to represent Kenya in the global finals, competing against students from all over the world in mid-2025.

A Broader Commitment to ICT Training

“This competition is part of Huawei’s broader collaboration with Kenyan universities to integrate practical ICT training into academic curricula,” added Mr. Kamau. Huawei’s ongoing efforts include programs like Huawei Seeds for the Future and the ICT Academy, alongside the annual ICT Competition. These initiatives are geared towards ensuring that Kenya’s youth are equipped with the necessary digital skills to thrive in the global ICT industry.

How to Register for Huawei ICT Competition 2024-25:

Registration for the 2024-2025 ICT Competition is open until November 30, 2024. Interested students currently enrolled in ICT-related courses at universities or technical colleges can sign up for the competition through the official portal: https://e.huawei.com/en/talent/ict-academy/#/ict-contest?compId=85131998.

The competition will feature multiple rounds, starting with a national qualifier, followed by regional semifinals, and culminating in the global finals in mid-2025. Participants who excel in the competition will have the opportunity to make a significant mark on the global stage.
