“This competition is an opportunity for students to enhance their skills and explore the latest developments in areas such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and networks. Our collaboration with Huawei will continue to provide world-class training and support to equip students for the digital future,” remarked Mr. Paul Kariuki during his opening address.

Mr. Michael Kamau added that students should take full advantage of the Huawei ICT Academy programs and competitions, which provide career-boosting certifications and hands-on experience. “We are excited to see a growing number of students participating and preparing themselves to contribute to Kenya’s digital transformation,” he said.

The roadshow marks the beginning of a series of similar events across other top Kenyan universities, including Zetech University, Kenyatta University, Multimedia University, Embu University, and Dedan Kimathi University. These events will run from October 18 to October 25, 2024. Organizers expect to attract over 7,000 participants nationwide, making this competition one of the largest ICT-focused student competitions in Kenya.

Participants in the Huawei ICT Competition will have the opportunity to compete in various tracks, including Network, Cloud, Computing, and AI Innovation. Additionally, the competition promotes the latest Huawei technologies, providing access to cutting-edge tools for students and institutions across the country.

The national final round of the competition is scheduled for early December 2024, with regional and global finals set for February and May 2025, respectively.
