Jiji is Running a Black Friday Campaign Offering Up to 85% Discounts
Jiji has announced its Black Friday 2024 campaign, offering discounts of up to 85% across a wide range of products and categories. The initiative, the company says, is part of the platform’s annual effort to attract shoppers during the holiday shopping season while boosting the visibility of verified sellers. The campaign runs until November 29, 2024, with discounts available on Jiji’s app and website.
Massive Discounts Across Jiji Categories
The campaign covers diverse product categories, including electronics, fashion, home appliances, furniture, and health and beauty. Jiji says it has partnered with verified sellers to ensure discounts are genuine and provide real value to buyers. Items such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and clothing are among this year’s highlights.
To simplify the shopping experience, Jiji is offering a dedicated landing page featuring discounted items, segmented by category, to help shoppers quickly find relevant deals.
Kenya’s increasing digital adoption plays a significant role in the popularity of online Black Friday shopping. As of January 2024, the country had 22.71 million internet users and 66.04 million mobile connections, surpassing the population. These figures reflect Kenya’s heavy reliance on mobile devices for online activities.
Globally, 68% of shoppers planned to purchase Black Friday deals online in 2023, a trend mirrored locally as more Kenyan consumers prioritize convenience and competitive pricing.
Focus on Authenticity
Jiji’s Black Friday strategy emphasizes trust and security for buyers. According to Jiji’s Director of Operations, Yuliy Shenfeld, the company collaborated with verified sellers to guarantee the authenticity of discounts.
“Black Friday is a much-awaited season for buyers in Kenya, and this year we are making it even more exciting with verified discounts. Our collaboration with top sellers ensures that every product discount is genuine. This creates the perfect opportunity for shoppers to grab their favourite items at the best prices,” Shenfeld stated.
This approach aims to build buyer confidence in online transactions, addressing concerns like fraudulent deals and misleading pricing.
Seamless Shopping Experience
Jiji has optimized its platform for both desktop and mobile users, leveraging the growing mobile-first culture in Kenya. The app allows users to browse, compare products, and shop conveniently. Shenfeld added, “We’ve worked hard to create a Black Friday experience that benefits both our buyers and verified sellers. Our aim is to provide substantial savings across popular categories.”
With operations in eight countries, Jiji reports over 12 million monthly users and more than 3 million ads valued at over $10 billion. These figures underline its influence in Africa’s e-commerce ecosystem, positioning it as a major player in online marketplaces.
Jiji’s Black Friday campaign is designed to cater to Kenyan shoppers’ growing expectations for significant savings on high-demand items. The platform’s emphasis on verified deals and curated landing pages seeks to address challenges like trust and seller accountability.
The sale ends on November 29, 2024, with deals accessible via the website or app. Jiji encourages shoppers to act quickly to secure the best discounts.
