Solarise Africa, a leading pan-African Energy-as-a-Service company, and RUBiS Energy Kenya, a subsidiary of the global energy leader Rubis Energie, recently announced the launch of RUBiSOL – November 27th 2024, a groundbreaking joint venture aimed at delivering renewable energy solutions to Commercial and Industrial (C&I) clients across East Africa.
This partnership represents a critical step in RUBiS Energie’s commitment to advancing renewable energy adoption and achieving decarbonization goals. By leveraging Solarise Africa’s expertise in decentralized energy solutions (DES) and RUBiS Energy Kenya’s extensive regional market presence, RUBiSOL is poised to transform the energy landscape in East Africa with reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy solutions.
A Strategic Vision for Renewable Energy
RUBiSOL’s primary mission is to accelerate the adoption of solar and other renewable energy technologies for businesses, helping to address the energy challenges faced by the region. As part of its commitment, RUBiS Energy Kenya plans to install solar panels at its service stations and depots, directly aligning with its broader decarbonization strategy.
Speaking about the partnership, Jan Albert Valk, Co-Founder and CEO of Solarise Africa, emphasized its potential impact:
"We are thrilled to partner with RUBiS Energy Kenya to drive the adoption of renewable energy across East Africa. Our expertise in decentralised solar and other energy solutions, combined with RUBiS's strong market presence, will unlock new possibilities and empower businesses to thrive."
Olivier Sabrié, CEO of RUBiS Energie East Africa and Group Managing Director of RUBiS Energy Kenya, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of sustainability:
"Expansion of the renewable energy agenda in Africa is a strategic priority for RUBiS Energie. By partnering with Solarise Africa, we are taking a significant step towards a sustainable future. RUBiSOL will not only enhance our energy portfolio but also offer our clients innovative and sustainable energy solutions."
Driving Energy Transformation Across Africa
Solarise Africa, which operates 79 contracted sites across South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda with a combined capacity exceeding 24MWp, brings a wealth of experience to this partnership. Their decentralized energy solutions have been instrumental in driving economic growth by making renewable energy accessible and affordable for businesses.
For RUBiS Energy Kenya, this collaboration represents an opportunity to broaden its portfolio with sustainable energy offerings. With a network of over 500 service stations across East Africa and subsidiaries in countries like Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia, RUBiS Energy Kenya is well-positioned to scale RUBiSOL’s impact.
Commitment to Sustainability and Innovation
RUBiSOL’s launch underscores a shared vision to build a greener future while addressing the energy needs of local businesses. By offering cost-effective and reliable decentralized energy solutions, RUBiSOL aims to support local economies and enhance energy accessibility in the region.
This venture also reflects RUBiS Energy Kenya’s ongoing efforts to diversify its energy portfolio. Notably, the company’s parent organization, RUBiS Energie, acquired the French solar energy firm Photosol in 2022, reinforcing its focus on renewable energy.
