Showmax February 2025 Lineup: Must-Watch Movies, Stand-Up Specials, and Documentaries

Showmax has unveiled its February content lineup, featuring a mix of blockbuster movies, award-winning stand-up specials, and high-profile documentaries. The streaming platform is set to offer a diverse selection of films and series catering to different audiences, including family-friendly animations, horror thrillers, true-crime documentaries, and nostalgic classics.

Major Highlights of the February Lineup

Among the most anticipated titles is Despicable Me 4, the latest installment in the globally popular animation franchise. Also making its debut on Showmax is Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy, a documentary exploring the rise of music mogul Sean Combs and the controversies surrounding him. For stand-up comedy fans, Alex Edelman: Just for Us, which won the 2024 Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special, is another significant addition.

Music enthusiasts will find Stevie Van Zandt: Disciple particularly interesting, as it follows the career of the musician and activist best known for his role in Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and his activism against apartheid.

3–9 February: Family-Friendly and Horror Thrillers

  • Tiddler (3 February): An animated adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s children’s book, Tiddler tells the story of a little fish who uses his storytelling skills to find his way back home. The film is narrated by Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham.

  • She Came to Me (17 February): A romantic comedy starring Peter Dinklage, Anne Hathaway, and Marisa Tomei, centered on an opera composer, a psychiatrist, and a tugboat captain whose lives intertwine in unexpected ways.

17–23 February: Big-Name Releases

  • Despicable Me 4 (20 February): The latest entry in the Despicable Me franchise sees Gru and his family facing off against a new villain, Maxime Le Mal. Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig return to voice Gru and Lucy, with Will Ferrell and Sofia Vergara joining the cast.
  • Alex Edelman: Just for Us (19 February): A stand-up special based on Edelman’s Tony Award-winning solo Broadway show, which recounts his experience infiltrating a meeting of white nationalists.

  • Stevie Van Zandt: Disciple (26 February): A documentary on the career and activism of Stevie Van Zandt, featuring interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Bono, and others.
  • Being Mary Tyler Moore (26 February): A documentary on the life and career of Mary Tyler Moore, chronicling her groundbreaking contributions to television.
  • Marmalade (24 February): A crime thriller starring Stranger Things’ Joe Keery about a convict telling the story of his past crimes in an attempt to secure his escape from prison.

Several Showmax titles have been recognized at major film awards. Dune: Part Two was named Rotten Tomatoes’ Best Movie of 2024 and is currently up for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Meanwhile, Dev Patel’s Monkey Man won the Golden Tomato for Best Action & Adventure Movie.

Upcoming releases in March include Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Heretic, both of which are expected to generate significant interest among subscribers.
