Huawei Kenya has officially welcomed 18 top-performing university students from across the country to its offices, marking the commencement of an intensive training program in preparation for the Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Final of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025. These exceptional students triumphed in the national finals and will proudly represent Kenya at the regional showdown scheduled for late February 2025.
Empowering Kenya’s Digital Future
The selected participants hail from prestigious institutions including Moi University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Machakos University, the University of Nairobi’s ICT Center, Africa Nazarene University, and Mount Kenya University. The comprehensive training will focus on advanced ICT domains such as networking, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, equipping the students with practical, industry-aligned skills crucial for excelling in the upcoming regional contest.
Speaking at the orientation event, Mr. Michael Kamau, Huawei Kenya’s Head of ICT Academy Program, highlighted the company’s dedication to nurturing local talent. “These students embody the innovation and determination that will drive Kenya’s digital transformation. Huawei is proud to support their journey, providing platforms like the ICT Competition to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
