MultiChoice Talent Factory Graduates Bring Fresh Stories to Maisha Magic

Two feature films created by graduates of the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) East Africa Academy are set to premiere on Maisha Magic channels, marking a major milestone for emerging filmmakers in the region.

The films, Deadbeat and The Immersive Alarm, showcase the storytelling and production skills honed by the graduates during their intensive 12-month training program. Their debut on Maisha Magic Plus and Maisha Magic East reflects the academy’s role in nurturing fresh talent and shaping the future of East African cinema.

Film Premieres and Storylines

Deadbeat, which premiered on Maisha Magic Plus on February 9 and will air again on Maisha Magic East on February 23, follows Nick Irungu’s chaotic journey after the death of his estranged father. As he confronts his father’s unresolved legacy, Nick embarks on a path of self-discovery, family reconciliation, and forgiveness.

The Immersive Alarm, a suspense thriller, is set to premiere on Maisha Magic Plus on February 16 before airing on Maisha Magic East on March 2. The film tells the story of a teenager who uses a time-travelling alarm clock to uncover the truth behind his father’s wrongful conviction. The thriller explores themes of justice, corruption, and family loyalty.
