Infinix HOT 60 Pro+ vs HOT 60i: Best Student Phone in Kenya for 2025?

-Ad-

Choosing a student phone should be simple. You want speed for classwork and multitasking, reliable battery life for long days on campus, a camera that does justice to projects and content, and pricing that respects student budgets. Infinix’s HOT 60 series splits cleanly into two choices. The HOT 60 Pro+ is the slim, premium option for students who want performance with personality. The HOT 60i focuses on essentials, keeping price and practicality front and center.

Student guide to Infinix HOT 60 Pro+ vs HOT 60i, with Folax AI, Ultra Link, prices, displays, cameras and battery.

Prices and configurations

In Kenya, HOT 60 Pro+ is available in 8 GB plus 128 GB at KES 21,999, or 8 GB plus 256 GB at KES 24,499. Students can spread payments with Mogo, from roughly KES 126 to KES 136 daily after a small deposit, which makes term budgeting easier.

HOT 60i undercuts that by a wide margin, starting at KES 12,799 for 6 GB plus 128 GB, or KES 15,199 for 8 GB plus 256 GB.

Design and displays

If you care about portability and polish, the Pro+ is the headliner. It measures 5.95 mm and weighs about 155 g, yet still packs a 6.78 inch 1.5K 3D curved AMOLED that refreshes up to 144 Hz. Protection includes Gorilla Glass 7i and an IP65 rating, helpful for crammed backpacks or sudden showers.

HOT 60i keeps things straightforward. It is 7.7 mm thin, uses an LCD with up to 120 Hz, and carries IP64 splash resistance. It feels practical, light enough for long reading sessions, and smooth for scrolling notes or socials.

If you want the design story behind the Pro+ thinness, we covered the teaser earlier when Infinix set expectations for a 5.95 mm body.

Performance and software

For heavy multitasking, the Pro+ has the advantage. It runs MediaTek Helio G200 with 8 GB RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, which helps when you are switching between PDFs, Google Docs, Canva or CapCut.

HOT 60i uses MediaTek Helio G81 Ultimate with 6 GB or 8 GB RAM and expandable storage, which is tuned for coursework, chat apps and casual gaming. Both ship with Android 15 on XOS 15 series builds, so you get current software and security.

Infinix HOT 60i arrives in Kenya starting at just KES 12,799 offering DeepSeek R1 Integration, 256GB Storage, 50MP Camera, 5160mAh battery, 45W Fast Charging, 120Hz LCD Display and Android 15. Pre-orders currently live with KES 3,000 deposit only.

Battery and charging

Both phones carry 5160 mAh batteries with 45 W fast charging, plus 10 W reverse wired charging if you need to top up a friend’s earbuds or a fitness band. The Pro+ claims 50 percent in roughly 22 minutes.

Cameras and audio

If you create content for clubs or your own channels, the Pro+ offers a step up. It uses Sony’s IMX882 50 MP main sensor and a 13 MP selfie camera, with video recording up to 1440p on both sides. Stereo speakers tuned by JBL help when you are reviewing clips without headphones.

HOT 60i keeps a 50 MP rear plus 8 MP selfie combination that is perfectly adequate for documentation, simple reels or TikTok updates.

Folax AI for students

Infinix HOT 60i arrives in Kenya starting at just KES 12,799 offering DeepSeek R1 Integration, 256GB Storage, 50MP Camera, 5160mAh battery, 45W Fast Charging, 120Hz LCD Display and Android 15. Pre-orders currently live with KES 3,000 deposit only.

Both models ship with Folax, Infinix’s AI layer powered by DeepSeek R1 on the HOT 60i and present across the series. Tasks include summarising readings, drafting notes and translations. The 60i even has a side button to call up Folax quickly. For background on DeepSeek and why low cost models matter for phones students actually buy, see our explainer.

Read, write, revise with Folax:

  • Writing Assistant turns messy lecture notes into clean outlines you can expand into essays or lab reports. Great after a fast-paced class when your notes are half bullets, half screenshots.
  • Document Assistant pulls key points from PDFs, handouts and journal articles, so you can capture arguments, methods and definitions for quick revision.
  • One-Tap Summary lets you quickly digest long pages, links or files, then gives you a short version with citations you can revisit later.
  • Recording Summary converts voice memos into bullet notes. Record a seminar or group discussion, then get time-stamped highlights to share with teammates.

Always-on study companion:

  • Folax Smart Touch brings AI into any app. Press and hold with two fingers to summarise a web page, draft a reply in email, or extract steps from a tutorial without switching screens.
  • On-screen Awareness keeps the display awake while you read, useful for long PDFs or open-book practice where you do not want the screen to dim mid-paragraph.
  • Circle to Search gives you Google’s visual search on the fly. Circle a formula, diagram or term on screen to get definitions, examples and sources, helpful for quick fact checks while revising.

Smarter communication

  • Translation Assistant breaks language barriers across calls, PDFs, links and audio recordings. Handy for exchange students, international sources or multilingual coursework.
  • Call Assistant can auto-answer with a polite prompt when you are in the library, generate a call summary as text after the conversation, and even translate in real time during calls, which helps when coordinating group projects or remote interviews.

Used well, FOLAX speeds up the boring parts of study, keeps you focused, and gives you cleaner notes for exams and submissions.

Ultra Link: short-range calling and messaging without network

A highlight for campus coordination is Ultra Link. Infinix says supported HOT 60 devices can call and message nearby compatible phones without a SIM or Wi-Fi, which is useful in crowded halls or during events where networks choke. We first saw the company detail this with the Pro+ launch. Treat it as a short-range team tool rather than a carrier replacement.
