Netflix Upgrades ‘Moments’ Feature, Letting Fans Select and Clip their Favorite Scenes

Remember the viral dance on the series called ‘Wednesday’ that racked up more than 70 million YouTube views? Netflix clearly hasn’t forgotten — and now it wants you to make the next viral moment yourself.

The streamer has quietly updated its Moments feature, first launched last year as a simple bookmarking tool. The new version finally lets subscribers set their own start and end points when saving clips — just in time for the release of Wednesday Season 2, Part 2.

What’s new with Moments

Previously, Netflix only offered pre-selected snippets or basic bookmarks. Now, you can choose any segment — whether it’s a five-second punchline, a shocking twist, or an entire musical sequence — and save it as a personalized clip.

How It Works on Mobile

The process is straightforward:

  1. Tap the Clip button while watching.
  2. Drag markers to set where the clip begins and ends.
  3. Save it, and you’ll find it under your My Netflix tab.

From there, you can rewatch the clip endlessly or share it with friends who are also Netflix subscribers.

Why It Matters

This update shows Netflix leaning into how audiences actually consume content today. Platforms like TikTok and YouTube thrive on short, shareable edits that spread faster than full-length shows. By integrating clipping directly into its app, Netflix keeps fans engaged while also keeping its shows in the cultural spotlight long after release day.

What’s the catch

There’s still a catch: clips are only viewable by other Netflix subscribers. In other words, you can’t upload your saved Moments directly to YouTube or TikTok — at least not through official channels.

Whether this becomes a fan-favorite feature or a stepping stone toward broader sharing remains to be seen. But one thing’s clear: Netflix knows the internet runs on moments, and it’s making sure those moments start on its platform.
