Apple has launched the AirPods Pro 3, alongside the new iPhone 17 Series and the ultra slim iPhone 17 Air. The latest version of its wireless earbuds come with improved Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), a redesigned fit, built-in heart rate monitoring, and extended battery life.
Heart Rate Sensor inside the earbuds
For the first time, AirPods Pro include a heart rate sensor. The device integrates with the iOS Fitness app to track more than 50 workout types, while Apple Fitness+ subscribers can see real-time metrics like heart rate, calories burned, and progress on their Move ring. On top of that, there’s a new “Workout Buddy” feature, powered by Apple Intelligence, provides personalized coaching based on workout history.
Live Translation comes to the AirPods
AirPods Pro 3 also introduce Live Translation, available in beta. The feature supports English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish at launch, with Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese to follow later this year.
Users can translate conversations in real time through their AirPods or display transcriptions on iPhone for those without earbuds.
Much Improved Active Noise Cancellation
Apple says the AirPods Pro 3 offer the most effective ANC of any in-ear wireless headphones, filtering out twice as much noise as the AirPods Pro 2 and four times more than the original.
A new acoustic design with foam-infused ear tips in five sizes, including a new XXS option, is intended to deliver greater comfort. In addition, the earbuds are IP57-rated for sweat and water resistance.
Longer Battery Life
Battery life has been extended to up to eight hours with ANC enabled, a 33% increase over the previous generation, and up to 10 hours in Transparency mode. Transparency mode lets you listen to the audio you are playing while being able to hear voices and ambient sounds around you.
Better Accessibility
Apple has expanded accessibility and hearing features. Conversation Boost now automatically adjusts for hearing aid users in noisy environments, while Hearing Protection has been certified in the EU and UK.
As part of its Apple 2030 environmental goals, the AirPods Pro 3 are built with 40% recycled materials, including 100% recycled cobalt in the battery and 65% recycled plastic in the case. Packaging is fully fiber-based and recyclable.
Pricing
The earbuds are available to preorder for $249 in the U.S. and more than 50 other markets, with sales beginning September 19.
