In the fast-evolving Kenyan smartphone market, Infinix continues to make its mark, especially within the gaming community. While last year’s Infinix GT 20 PRO set a high bar for performance-focused devices, the brand-new Infinix GT 30 PRO has just landed in the country, opening for pre-orders with enticing deals. This generational update brings significant enhancements, but how does it truly stack up against its predecessor? Let’s break down the key differences.

Display and Design
Both phones are built around a large 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a fluid 144Hz refresh rate, ideal for high-fps gaming. However, the new GT 30 PRO elevates the viewing experience with a sharper 1224 x 2720 pixel resolution and a much higher peak brightness, making it more vibrant and easier to see outdoors. A significant upgrade for the 2025 model is its durability; the GT 30 PRO now features Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for screen protection and an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, offering peace of mind that the GT 20 PRO lacked.
Performance and Internals
This is where the generational leap is most apparent. The GT 20 PRO runs on the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chipset. The new GT 30 PRO, however, is equipped with the next-generation MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate. This newer chip, combined with the jump to Android 15, promises a tangible boost in speed, power efficiency, and overall performance. The GT 30 PRO also offers a higher storage configuration, going up to 512GB.

Camera and Battery
In the camera department, both phones feature a high-resolution 108 MP main sensor. The GT 20 PRO from last year includes Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for clearer, more stable shots. The new GT 30 PRO, while also sporting a 108 MP main camera, expands its photographic toolkit with an 8 MP ultrawide lens, perfect for capturing wider scenes. For selfie enthusiasts, the GT 20 PRO has a higher-resolution 32 MP front camera compared to the 13 MP sensor on the newer model.
Battery life sees a slight increase in the GT 30 PRO, offering up to a 5500 mAh capacity versus the 5000 mAh on the GT 20 PRO. The most significant change is in charging. While both support 45W wired charging, the GT 30 PRO introduces the immense convenience of 30W wireless charging and even reverse wireless charging, allowing you to power up your other gadgets on the go.

Gaming and Audio
As dedicated gaming phones, both deliver a premium experience. However, the GT 30 PRO introduces specialized features like pressure-sensitive zones that function as built-in gaming triggers, giving players a competitive edge. On the audio front, while both have stereo speakers, the GT 20 PRO’s are tuned by JBL, ensuring a richer and more immersive sound profile for gaming and media.
