Samsung’s Galaxy S25 FE has landed in Kenya, and it’s betting big on AI without the flagship price tag

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy S25 FE in Kenya, continuing its strategy of trickling down premium features into a more affordable “Fan Edition” package. Announced today by Samsung Electronics East Africa, the device is less a radical reinvention and more a calculated refinement, focusing on bringing the company’s much-touted Galaxy AI suite, a larger battery, and improved performance to a sub-flagship price point.

The Galaxy S25 FE is available now for KES 99,999 for the base 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model, placing it in a fiercely competitive segment. Its core mission is to act as a vehicle for Samsung’s latest software ambitions. Running One UI 8, the phone is equipped with the full array of Galaxy AI experiences. This includes features like Generative Edit, which allows for Photoshop-style object removal and manipulation directly on the phone, and Instant Slow-mo, which can intelligently generate slow-motion effects in any video.

Samsung is democratizing flagship features with the new Galaxy S25 FE, now available in Kenya. Packing the latest Galaxy AI, a 4,900mAh battery, and a premium build for under 100k, it's a strong contender in the premium mid-range space. #Samsung #GalaxyS25FE #TechNews

But while AI is the headline feature, Samsung has made some practical hardware upgrades that address the core user experience. The device houses a substantial 4,900mAh battery, a notable increase that should comfortably see users through a full day of heavy use. When it’s time to recharge, the phone supports 45W wired charging, a spec it shares with its more expensive S-series siblings, along with 15W wireless charging.

Under the hood, performance is handled by the Exynos 2400 chipset, a 4nm deca-core processor. To manage the heat from demanding tasks, Samsung has included a vapor chamber that it claims is over 10 percent larger than the one in its predecessor. This should translate to better-sustained performance during long gaming sessions or when using processor-intensive AI features, preventing the device from thermal throttling.

The display is a large 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth scrolling and vibrant visuals. The design has been refined with an Armor Aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and back, giving it a more premium feel than some past FE models and providing IP68 water and dust resistance.

In the camera department, the S25 FE features a versatile triple-lens system on the rear. The setup is led by a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), accompanied by a 12MP ultrawide lens and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. While competent, this hardware is largely an iterative update. The more significant change is on the front, with an upgraded 12MP selfie camera. Samsung says its AI-powered ProVisual Engine will deliver a significantly enhanced selfie experience, promising sharper details and better performance in various lighting conditions.

“Galaxy S25 FE plays a key role in expanding access to Galaxy AI and flagship features, bringing these innovations to more users in Kenya,” said Evelyn Munene, Head of Product and Marketing at Samsung Electronics East Africa.

The phone is being sold at Samsung authorized dealers across Kenya and is available in two configurations: 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage and an 8GB RAM with 256GB storage option. It comes in four colors: Icy Blue, Jet Black, Navy, and White. As a bonus, Samsung is offering six months of the Google AI Pro plan in select markets, which provides enhanced access to features within Gemini, Flow, and other Google AI tools.

Ultimately, the Galaxy S25 FE is a strategic move for Samsung. It’s a device designed for the pragmatic user who wants the latest AI-powered software tricks and solid, all-day performance without shelling out for a top-tier flagship. While it may not have the absolute best camera system or the most powerful processor on the market, its well-rounded package of a premium display, long battery life, and intelligent software makes it a formidable contender for anyone looking for a near-flagship experience without the accompanying price.
