Infinix XOS 16 Rollout Plan: Every Device Getting the Android 16 Update in 2026

Infinix has officially laid out the rollout schedule for XOS 16, its Android 16-based operating system, and the timeline runs all the way through to the end of 2026. The company shared the plan via its official XOS Instagram handle, and it covers which devices are getting the update and roughly when each batch should expect it.

If you own an Infinix phone and have been wondering whether your device is on the list, here is the full breakdown.

What is XOS 16?

XOS 16 is Infinix’s custom Android skin built on top of Google’s Android 16. It is what Infinix ships on new devices and pushes as over-the-air updates to older ones. Think of it like Samsung’s One UI or TECNO’s HiOS, the same base Android underneath, but with the brand’s own features, design language, and tools layered on top.

XOS 16 moves away from the visual noise of previous versions and leans into a cleaner, AI-first direction. The headline visual change is something Infinix calls Glow Space: a design concept that uses fluid animations, depth-based transitions, and transparency effects to make the software feel more premium. Users can also expect 3D spatial wallpapers where the clock and system icons appear to float in layers, along with an AI Theme Generator for creating custom themes using generative AI.

On the practical side, XOS 16 introduces FlashMemo for quick note-taking, AI Writing tools, and real-time call translation. For gamers, X-Arena gaming brings performance modes including low-power, balance, and boost options, along with Bypass Charging and Anti-Interference Gaming features.

The Rollout Schedule

Infinix has split the XOS 16 rollout into three phases across the year.

Q2 2026 (Now through June)

The first wave of updates begins in Q2 2026, starting with the:

  • NOTE 50 Pro+ 5G,
  • NOTE 50S 5G,
  • NOTE 50 Pro,
  • NOTE 50X 5G,
  • NOTE 50,
  • GT 30 Pro, and
  • GT 30.

This is the flagship and upper-mid-range tier getting priority, which is consistent with how Infinix has handled previous rollouts. The exact month within Q2 has not been pinned down, but given we are already in April, some devices in this batch could start receiving the OTA notification within weeks.

Q3 2026 (July through September)

The second phase expands to the

  • NOTE 40 Pro,
  • NOTE 40S,
  • NOTE 40,
  • GT 20 Pro,
  • HOT 60 Pro, and
  • HOT 60 Pro+.

This is notable because it includes HOT series devices, which Infinix has historically treated as a lower priority for major Android updates. The inclusion of the HOT 60 Pro and HOT 60 Pro+ here is a signal that Infinix is gradually broadening its update commitments beyond just its premium tiers.

Q4 2026 (October through December)

The final phase covers the

  • Zero 40,
  • Zero 40 5G, and
  • Zero Flip.

If this timeline holds, Zero Flip owners will have waited nearly two years for a second major Android update, which is a reasonable complaint given that the device was not cheap at launch.

Who Is Not Getting XOS 16

Not every Infinix device made the list. The entire HOT 50 series has been cut from the Android 16 update path and will not receive the upgrade, though security patches will continue until the end of 2026. The XPAD 20 series and SMART 10 series are also excluded from the XOS 16 rollout.

This is part of a pattern. Infinix’s software update policy offers up to two major Android OS upgrades and three years of security patches for devices like the ZERO, NOTE, and GT series, but budget lines receive significantly less. If your device is not on this list, it has most likely reached the end of its major OS update lifecycle.

Why This Matters

We have covered Infinix’s update commitments before, including when they confirmed the XOS 15 rollout for the NOTE 40 series back in April 2025, and the story has been broadly positive. Infinix has improved its software support compared to where the brand was a few years ago. The question has always been whether they can hold the line on commitments and deliver updates on time.

Last year’s XOS 15 rollout missed its own deadline for the Zero Flip. Whether XOS 16 fares better will be closely watched, especially by users in the Q4 batch who are already used to waiting.

How to Check for the Update

When the OTA does arrive for your device, you will find it by going to Settings → System → System Update. If an update is available, it will prompt you to download and install it. Make sure you have at least 50% battery before you start, and a stable Wi-Fi connection is always recommended for downloads of this size.

Infinix says users should follow its official channels for device-specific notifications as rollout dates get closer. If your phone is on the list above, it is just a matter of time.
