Samsung takes its connected home to three Nairobi malls, with up to 60% off appliances

Samsung Electronics East Africa is running a walk-in smart home at three Nairobi malls between now and October. The Connected Living Experience opens at the Junction Mall from 28 to 30 August 2026. It then goes to the Galleria Mall from 4 to 6 September, and to Sarit Centre from 2 to 4 October. Samsung announced the run on 21 August.

The build is a mock house split into zones. So you’ll get to see a living room, a kitchen and a laundry room, and a bedroom. Each zone is there to show Samsung’s Galaxy phones, wearables, TVs and Wi-Fi appliances working as one set rather than as separate products on separate shelves. Entertainment is the pitch in the living room. The kitchen zone is about food and appliance management, and the laundry section walks through choosing a wash cycle and checking on the machine.

What SmartThings actually is

SmartThings is Samsung’s app for controlling connected devices in a home from one place.

3D Map View draws a floor plan of your home in the app and puts your devices on it, so you can see which appliance is in which room and whether it is on. Quick Remote turns a Galaxy phone into a remote for whichever device you walk up to. AI Energy Mode cuts power draw automatically, and Samsung’s example is a TV dimming itself to match the light in the room.

Laundry Recipe is the one most people have not heard of. Tell the app what fabrics are in the load, how dirty they are and what colour they are. It comes back with a suggested cycle and temperature, then starts the machine. Auto Diagnostics, which the release describes as a way to monitor appliance performance, reports faults to the phone instead of leaving you to decode an error code on the machine’s own display. Remote appliance control does what the name says.

Samsung has scale behind this. Cheolgi Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of the Digital Appliances Division at Samsung Electronics, said at CES 2026 in January that SmartThings had more than 430 million users as of December 2025. We covered Samsung’s argument at that show that smart homes should be open across brands.

The offers, all at the Junction

All the discounts Samsung has confirmed sit at the Junction Mall stop, where three retailers are taking part. Azone Outlet has up to 60% off selected Samsung home appliances, and Carrefour up to 25% off. At Quick Plug the cut is up to 10% off Samsung mobile purchases, with bundles that add free power banks and adapters on selected devices. Azone is also running giveaways and a Spin the Wheel game.

Concluding

The biggest deal Samsung is pushing is a 98-inch 4K TV at KES 600,050, down from KES 1,099,995.

One thing to check on the floor, beyond the TV model number: whether the specific appliance you are looking at is a Wi-Fi model. None of 3D Map View, Laundry Recipe or Auto Diagnostics does anything on a machine that cannot connect.

Samsung also has a form for registering interest in the discounts if you cannot make it to the Junction this weekend.
