Vivo will launch the V80 on 6th October 2026. The phone has a 7,200mAh battery with 90W charging and a 144Hz AMOLED display, alongside ZEISS cameras built around a 50MP main sensor and a dedicated 3x telephoto.
The V80 follows the V70, which we covered when it went on sale in Kenya on 7th April. The changes are clearest in battery capacity and the screen’s maximum refresh rate. Vivo is keeping the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, so this is not a new generation of processing hardware for V70 owners.
A bigger battery, with the same charging rating
The V80’s 7,200mAh battery is 700mAh larger than the V70’s 6,500mAh cell, an increase of about 11%. Charging remains at 90W. Vivo says the new phone can reach 50% in 30 minutes in its fast charging mode, based on laboratory testing.
That extra capacity gives the V80 more room for long days away from a socket, although an 11% increase in capacity does not guarantee an 11% increase in runtime. Actual endurance will depend on how the finished phone behaves under use.
The body measures 7.69mm thick and weighs 203g. Against the V70’s listed 7.59mm and 194g, that is an extra 0.1mm and 9g. The battery increase therefore comes with a relatively small change in the phone’s dimensions and weight.
ZEISS cameras and 4K video
The rear camera system has a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, a 50MP telephoto with stabilisation and 3x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultrawide. A 50MP autofocus camera handles selfies.
The telephoto is useful for tighter portraits or distant subjects without having to rely entirely on cropping the main camera’s image. Vivo also advertises zoom up to 100x, but that figure should not be confused with the lens’s 3x optical magnification.
Vivo’s camera preview includes 4K recording at 60 frames per second and a Cinematic Video mode with movie-style colour treatments. There are also AI lighting effects and tools for turning elements from live photos into stickers.
These are recording and editing options, rather than evidence of better image quality. The camera resolutions alone do not establish an improvement over the V70, which also has 50MP main and telephoto cameras, an 8MP ultrawide and a 50MP selfie camera.
A 144Hz screen and Android 17
The display stays at 6.59 inches with a resolution of 2750 x 1260 pixels, commonly described as 1.5K. Its maximum refresh rate rises from the V70’s 120Hz to 144Hz. Vivo notes that 144Hz is available only in supported applications.
Brightness is rated at 5,000 nits for local peaks, with a separate high-brightness mode rating of 1,800 nits. The larger number should not be read as the brightness of the entire screen during ordinary use.
The V80 runs OriginOS 7, Vivo’s interface based on Android 17. Vivo advertises up to six years of security updates, with availability and duration dependent on the model and market. That is a security support commitment, not a promise of six major Android upgrades.
An ultrasonic fingerprint reader and IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance are also listed in the official specifications. The colour options are Sunrise Anthem, Horizon Blue and Stellar Black.
Price and availability
Vivo has not published a selling price. Tipster Ahsan Kharbai has claimed a launch price above INR 60,000, but that remains unconfirmed. It is too early to use that figure as the basis for a Kenyan price estimate.
For V70 owners, the larger battery and faster display are the clearest hardware changes so far. The price announced on 6th October will determine how much Vivo is asking for those changes, while camera and battery testing will show what they deliver in everyday use.
