Galaxy S25, Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 start getting stable Android 17

Samsung has started sending the stable Android 17 update to the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 in South Korea. The release began on 28th September 2026, nearly two weeks after the company started upgrading the newer Galaxy S26 phones.

The Korean update record for the Galaxy S25 Ultra lists One UI 9, Android 17 and build S938NKSUCDZIF. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7 record lists the same Android and One UI versions under build F966NKSUCCZIH. Both carry the 5th September 2026 security patch. The standard S25, S25+ and Z Flip7 have also appeared with Korean Android 17 builds, although the first reports of the Flip7 update concern phones that were already in the beta programme.

We tracked the S25 and both foldables when they joined Samsung’s September beta. At that point, the S25, Fold7 and Flip7 were still waiting for stable software, and Kenya was outside the announced beta markets. This is the next step for those phones, though the stable rollout remains separate from the beta’s country list.

What One UI 9 changes on these phone

The update brings Android 17 underneath Samsung’s One UI 9 controls and apps. On the S25 Ultra and Fold7, Samsung’s release notes include:

1. A more flexible Quick Panel, where owners can resize the brightness and volume sliders and the media player.
2. They also add a blue indicator when an app accesses location; tapping it shows which app used that permission. For someone who wants to know why the location icon appeared, the answer is now closer at hand.
3. Samsung has also added My FanCam, which lets you choose a person in a recorded video and automatically crop the frame to follow them.
4. Now Nudge, Samsung’s on-screen suggestion tool, can offer prompts in conversation notifications and from a floating button even when the keyboard is closed.

There is a practical difference in download size. A phone that ran the One UI 9 beta already has most of the new software, so its final update is smaller. One Korean S25 Ultra update from One UI 8.5 was about 3.9 GB, against roughly 535 MB for a beta tester. The sizes are examples from update screens, not a promise for every model or region. If you use mobile data for updates, check the size shown on your own phone before downloading.

Samsung’s rollout announcement says eligible devices will receive One UI 9 in phases. It gives no specific dates for different countries.

On a phone running One UI 8.5, open Settings > Software update > Check for updates. Back up important data before a major update. If the phone says it is up to date, the upgrade may not have reached its regional build yet.
