Samsung has started sending Android 17 to the Galaxy S26 Ultra in Kenya. The update screen shows One UI 9.0, Samsung’s interface and apps that sit on top of Google’s Android, with Android 17 underneath.
Samsung began the S26 rollout in South Korea on 16th September, which is when we first reported the S26 update. The same S948BXXU4BZI6 version has since turned up on S26 phones in India and Europe, so Kenya looks to be getting the global build. That’s a total of 15 days after Korea.
The download is about 4 GB. The update screen itself warns that using mobile data may cost extra. Wait for Wi-Fi, and back up important data first, as Samsung’s own guide advises.
Samsung’s rollout announcement names My FanCam, which crops a recorded video to follow a person you pick, and Now Nudge, which gives suggestions based on what you are doing. It also lists Now Brief, a daily summary with cards you can edit, Interpreter with a thread view for translated conversations, a Document Scan that copes with curved or folded pages, and summaries in the Voice Recorder. Several of these, including My FanCam and Now Brief, need a Samsung Account login, and Samsung says features can vary by country, region, language and model.
The update screen on Kenyan units says only that One UI 9 brings Galaxy AI features that adapt to how you use the phone.
