These Honor Phones are receiving Android 17 MagicOS 11 this week

Honor will send MagicOS 11 to the second batch of its phones at about 7pm Beijing time on Friday 9th October. MagicOS 11 is Honor’s version of Android 17, and it launched in Shenzhen on 15th September with a three-batch plan covering 51 phones. Honor’s product maintenance account on Weibo, 荣耀小芳哥, set out the October dates in a post on 30th September.

The second batch getting the update include:

  1. the Magic V3 foldable,
  2. the whole Magic6 series,
  3. the Honor 500 and 400 series,
  4. the WIN Turbo and the Power2,
  5. plus the MagicPad2, MagicPad3, Pad GT, Pad V9 and
  6. Pad 10 Pro tablets.

Friday’s update goes only to owners who signed up for Honor’s test programme for those phones. When we first covered the rollout, that programme was a closed beta with limited places. The people Honor picked got the build on 20th September, and everyone else who signed up was told to expect it on 9th October, after China’s national holiday.

If you missed the sign-up, the form reopens on Thursday 15th October, and Honor says anyone who registers then gets the update within two working days.

To get the form, go to:

  1. Settings,
  2. then System and updates,
  3. then Software update,
  4. then the three-dot menu at the top right,
  5. then Upgrade early access.

So if you own a Chinese Magic6 Pro or Honor 400, you can be on Android 17 by Friday evening if you signed up in September, or a few days after 15th October if you didn’t.

The third batch, and two features that aren’t ready

On Tuesday 20th October Honor will be opening up sign-ups for the third batch: the Robot Phone, the Magic Vs3, the Magic5 series, the Honor 300 series and the X80 Pro Max. Honor says the full list of phones and the schedule will come later. The plan it published in September also named the Magic V2, the Honor 200 and 100 and the X70 line for October and November.
