Honor’s WIN tablet launches with an 8.4-inch 240Hz OLED screen

Honor has launched its WIN tablet in China, a compact Android gaming tablet with an 8.4-inch OLED display that refreshes up to 240 times a second. It arrived alongside the WIN2 gaming phones on 21st October 2026, with a cooling fan built into the back.

The launch offer starts at about USD 628 or about KES 82,000 for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. You get a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a built-in fan and a 10,000mAh battery. To get the benefit of that 240Hz screen, you’ll also need to check the games you want to play.

What 240Hz means when you play

Refresh rate is how often a display can update its image. At 240Hz, the screen can show a new frame roughly every 4.17 milliseconds, compared with 8.33 milliseconds at 120Hz. If the game produces enough frames to keep up, movement can look smoother and changes can appear sooner on screen. The refresh interval accounts for part of the delay between an action and what you see. It doesn’t measure the tablet’s overall response time.

A game capped at 60 frames per second still produces 60 new pictures each second. Running it on a 240Hz panel doesn’t make the game generate four times as many. Honor’s game compatibility details list Phigros and Clash of Clans among the games that support native 240Hz, with other supported games running at 185Hz or 165Hz. Some require a game update before those modes become available.

Honor’s game manager also supports frame interpolation, which inserts generated pictures between the frames supplied by the game to make movement appear smoother. Both native rendering and interpolation can use the panel’s high refresh rate. So when you see a 240Hz mode, check how the game reaches it: by producing its own frames or by inserting generated ones.

The panel has a resolution of 2304 x 1440 pixels. OLED pixels produce their own light and can switch off for black areas, which is useful in games with dark scenes. Honor advertises a peak brightness of 6,000 nits, a measure of light output. Its footnote limits that claim to strong light or high dynamic range content; you shouldn’t expect that brightness across every screen and app.

A fan and a large battery in a small body

The official specifications put the tablet at about 315g and 6.1mm thick, excluding the camera protrusion. The Snapdragon processor handles the games, and the tablet runs MagicOS 11, Honor’s software built on Android 17.

Sustained gaming also creates heat. Honor combines two vapour chambers, which spread heat away from hot components, with a fan that moves air through the cooling system. A hot processor may reduce its speed, so the aim is to keep performance steadier through a long session. Independent testing is still needed to establish how well the cooling does that.

The battery supports charging at up to 66W, and Honor also includes charging separation for playing while plugged in. The 10,000mAh capacity alone doesn’t tell us how long it will last at its highest refresh rate. That needs a gaming endurance test.

Honor’s Chinese store lists two memory configurations in black and silver:

Last month, we explained how Honor uses the MagicPad 4 name for two different tablets. For the WIN, check the exact games and versions supported as well. We find the small OLED screen and active cooling an interesting combination for handheld gaming, but paying for 240Hz makes most sense when the games you play can use it.
