About
Welcome to Tech-ish.com. We are more than just a news blog; we are a vibrant community chronicling the digital heartbeat of Kenya and beyond.
Our Story The Tech-ish journey began in a university dorm room in 2014. Our founder, Dickson Otieno, then a second-year student, wanted a canvas to paint his thoughts on the rapidly evolving digital landscape. He envisioned a platform that wasn’t rigid or purely technical—something that sat in the intriguing grey area between hardcore specs and everyday lifestyle. He called it “Tech-ish”.
(Fun fact: The hyphen in our URL isn’t a stylistic choice; it was a happy accident born of necessity when the non-hyphenated domain was unavailable. Today, that hyphen symbolises the bridge we build between complex technology and the people who use it.)
The Evolution What started as a personal diary has blossomed into a premier media platform. As the smartphone revolution took over the continent, we were there to cover it. As startups began to redefine African commerce, we were there to analyse it. Recognising our authentic voice, global tech giants and local innovators alike began partnering with us to tell their stories.
The Team Today, Tech-ish.com is fueled by a diverse collective of writers, editors, and tech enthusiasts. We are no longer a one-man show; we are a newsroom.
- We don’t just copy-paste press releases; our team dissects them.
- We don’t just review gadgets; we live with them to tell you if they are worth your hard-earned KES.
- We debate, we analyse, and we champion the African tech narrative.
Our Mission We believe technology is not just cold circuits and code; it is deeply personal. It shapes how we work, love, and live. Whether you are a CEO looking for B2B insights, a student hunting for a budget smartphone, or a developer tracking the latest startup trends, our diverse team ensures there is a seat at the table for you.
