Windows Phones in Kenya for less than 20K

No Windows Phone has ever been my main phone. So I am not that good with Windows Phones. I know how to operate them but some things get hard at times. Like finding “About Phone” and the likes. But anyway, the Windows Phone OS is taking up the market. More people are embracing the OS. It won’t beat Android (ever) but it has come a long way. The problem though is most Windows Phone based smartphones are unbelievably expensive. Anyway I have a list of Windows Phones here that are surely affordable and I believe, with very good deals, you can get them for less than 20,000 Kenya Shillings.

Let’s start:

  • Huawei Ascend W1 and Huawei Ascend W2

The W1 is a 4.0 inch phone with a 1.2 GHz Dual Core Krait Processor (Qualcomm MSM8230 Snapdragon chipset). It runs Windows Phone 8. It has a 5MP back camera with LED flash and autofocus. The camera shoots 720p videos at 30fps. The front camera is 0.3MP. Internal Storage is 4GB and RAM is 512MB. You can expand memory upto 32BG with an external memory card. It has a pixel density of 233ppi on an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. The battery is 1950mAh.

The W2 is 4.3 inches. The processor is 1.4 GHz Dual Core Krait (Qualcomm MSM8230 Snapdragon 400 chipset). Internal memory is 8GB and RAM is 512MB. There is no front camera. The pixel density is reduced to 217ppi and so is the battery reduced to 1700mAh. I’d rather you stick with the W1 if you must buy either.

  • Lumia 520 and Lumia 525

I have a post on both phones here. The 525 was not a hit as was the 520. The best selling low end smartphone in 2013 was the Lumia 520. No wonder almost everyone has one.

  • Lumia 620 and Lumia 625

The 620 3.8 inches while the 625 is 4.7 inches. Obviously now the 625 has lower ppi. The 625 however is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and is scratch resistant. Both have 5MP back cameras with LED flash. However the 625 shoots 1080p videos at 30fps while the 620 shoots 720p videos. Both front cameras are 0.3MP.

The 620 has runs on a 1GHz Dual Core Krait processor while the 625 runs on a 1.2Ghz Dual core processor. Both have 512MB RAM and 8GB internal memory. The 620 has 1300mAh battery while 625 has 2000mAh. Which one wins here?

  • Lumia 530 and Lumia 630

The Lumia 530 war with the Lumia 630 is carefully detailed here. The 530 wins on so many levels for me. I don’t know what you’ll think of both.

  • Huawei 4Afrika

This phone is already fully detailed here. You might consider it over the Lumia 520 especially since they are almost the same.

  • HTC 8S (Not necessarily under 20K)

I think with a very good deal  you can get the phone for about 25k. It is a 4 inch phone with a Dual core (1GHz) processor and 5MP camera. You get 4GB memory on board and a 1700mAh battery.

I don’t use any Windows Phone as my main phone. Maybe once or twice for a week or two. I love Android. And you can probably see that with all the posts I make. One is not taught to love Android. It’s just that the possibilities with the Android OS are so many. People just love Android. I can comfortably say Android can do anything. But with the uptake of the Windows OS let’s see where this war is headed.

You might know better under 20k windows phones in Kenya. Please leave them in the comment box below. If you’re looking for the best phones under 20k generally, here is the list. If you have a question you want answered drop me an email.
