If you’re in Kenya, you’ve probably been seeing weirdly named phones on Facebook like I have. And they’re going at very nice prices. I am going to be highlighting the ones that have caught my eye over the next few weeks. So stay tuned for those posts. If you’re interested. I already started with a company called Cubot and went all in on how the H1 is a phone you must check out. Here’s that post.
This post is focusing on another amazingly cheap device you need to have a look at. It has a name I can’t pronounce even in my head. LOL. Here’s the Snokor Rocket Z5000. (What a name!):
I can imagine you telling people, “Guys I have a Snokor.” How do you even pronounce that name? But don’t get me wrong this device packs some amazing power for Ksh. 6500!
First time I saw it, I was like that looks like the Infinix Hot 2. Doesn’t it to you? They’re almost identical! And its probably because they are related.
About Snokor:
Snokor is another TECNO Company. LOL. I know. Okay let me explain this. There is a group called Transsion Holdings. You’ve probably not heard of it yet. But you have their devices. Almost every home in Kenya has a “Transsion Device”. You’ve heard of some of its brands like TECNO, INFINIX, itel and now Snokor. There’s also ORAIMO who have pretty dope Powerbanks and phone batteries. You can visit Transsion’s website here. A very silent group taking over Africa and the Middle East.
Snokor Rocket Z5000 Specs:
When I tell you this device is striking, I mean it. At 6500 shillings what would you expect? Pretty simple stuff. And especially if it is a Samsung, you’ll cry. By the way there are no Samsungs this cheap. I think the cheapest Samsung currently is 10k right? Tell me.
Anyway
Display and Size: The Snokor Rocket Z5000 is a 5 inch device. Not small. People love big displays, it’s been proven. The screen is not HD. Resolutions is 480×854. Inasmuch as you shouldn’t expect a very good display, you can be sure you won’t be getting that bad of a screen.
Cameras: The front camera is 2MP. A Facebook post by Snokor suggests that if you take a selfie with this camera the photo will trend. LOOOOL. The back camera is 5MP.
Storage: Internal storage is 8GB. I’m sure there’s a MicroSD slot.
RAM: 1GB RAM.
Processor: It runs on a Quad Core Processor clocked at 1.2GHz.
Android Version: Comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Battery: Now this is where things get juicier. For Ksh. 6500 you get a 3600mAh battery. And not just that an OTG cable that supports reverse charging. Meaning you can use this device as a powerbank, LOL. Okay you can use it for other stuff too but mainly to help charge other people’s phones.
Other Stuff:
The phone comes in brilliant bright colours. Their site says you can enjoy high quality calls on this device. I only know one person whose phone is extra clear on voice calls. If you’re reading this…
So what’s the difference between this phone and the first Android One in Africa (the Infinix Hot 2)? Well a couple of things! That could make a whole other post of its own right? So here you go: Snokor Rocket Z5000 VS Infinix Hot 2; Which one is better?
Opinion:
Is this a good phone? Yes totally. At the price!
Would I get this phone? Yes. Not for my daily use though. I want more RAM and bigger screen. But I’d get it for a full review and maybe for the extra battery. Or to give it to someone suffering with a Galaxy J1. LOL. Snokor if you’re reading this…
Tell me what you think of this phone. Is it something you’d consider?
You can also tell me what you think about Transsion Holdings.
