Last year I wrote a post titled “Cubot H1: A phone you need to check out“. By then I knew little about Cubot as they hadn’t even launched in Kenya.
Cubot are now officially in Kenya (@CubotKe) and the Cubot Note S, a new device they launched early this year is the first on my list of Best Phones under 10k in Kenya.
The Cubot H1 captured me as it offered a 5200mAh battery, a 64bit Quad Core Processor, 2GB RAM, and 13MP/8MP cameras all for less than 15,000 Kenya shillings. In fact you can get it from Kilimall at Ksh. 14800 only!
Now the Cubot H2 is launching soon and the specs are nothing less of amazing!
- A 5.5 inch HD screen
- 3GB RAM, 16GB internal
- 5000mAh battery
- Quick Charging
- Cameras specs still unknown (I’ll update once phone is official)
If the Cubot H2 launches in Kenya, I hope it will be nicely affordable as it packs amazing specs. And looks very good!
The only thing I am wondering is what difference the new H2 will give compared to the H1. The battery has been reduced by 200mAh and only RAM from the known specs has been increased.
Maybe the cameras will be far much better. I hope they launch with say 16MP back camera and 8MP front camera. All this at a good price tag and I’ll be getting the device. Though I still feel like the H1 is superior and I want to check it out. I mean those specs are… a 5200mAh battery. Imagine what you could do with that!
I love what Cubot has done with the Cubot Note S. The price is good and the phone is amazing. Especially the display. The colours are nice and saturated and the screen is bright and beautiful. One can’t imagine the phone is only $88. And this makes me wonder how good a $140 smartphone of theirs will be.

I knew H1 was coming exclusively via Kilimall – the sales team had no idea when when I tried chatting with them online. Next thing I knew, it was out of stock, like those Jumia flash sales on Black Friday.
Beats the logic of having a great device which just can’t be available. If they do better with the H2, I may just give it a try, though I don’t like the interpolated Camera. But 3GB RAM is enticing enough.
