The “Best Priced Android Phone” as I had called it earlier – Infinix Hot 3 – which you Buy from Jumia Kenya for Ksh. 7899 is getting a big upgrade. Not software. A new variant.
I wrote about the new expected phone here based on rumours. But that has so far been confirmed. The phone will be exclusively sold through Jumia.co.ke.
The new Infinix Hot 3 will launch early June and here are its “new” specifications:
- 13MP back camera
- 5MP Wide Angle front camera
- A 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 Octa core processor
- A 5.5 inch display (*Expected to be full HD)
- 3000mAh battery
- Android 5.1 Lollipop
- New back cover “dragon-like” design
Design:
As you can see from the pictures, the overall design resembles its other variant. Only notable difference will be the “rough” dragon feel at the back.
I am keeping my customised back cover just in case it’ll be compatible with the new device.
Performance:
This new variant will be much more better to use than the original Infinix Hot 3 which I have been using for quite a while now. The original phone was a big mistake for me in terms of performance. It hangs almost always.
RAM and Processors:
Infinix is doing something different with this device. Instead of the common MediaTek processors, we’ll be seeing a Qualcomm Snapdragon. How that will turn out, we are yet to see.
With 2GB RAM, a 64 bit octa core processor by Qualcomm, this looks like a phone that would handle probably all tasks one might need to. From games to big apps. My only worry being the 3000mAh battery. Will the new processor be kind to the battery life?
Cameras:
The cameras have also been revamped. From 8MP to 13MP for the back camera. And from 2MP to 5MP for the front camera. Both have LED flash with the front camera featuring what Infinix continues to call “soft flash”.
I am excited to see how these cameras will perform.
The front camera wide-angle selfie has been improved. It can now do 85 degrees wide angle shots.
Thoughts:
My only issue is the phone will still launch with Android 5.1 Lollipop. Every new TECNO phone this year is coming with Android 6! What’s happening Infinix?
But with 2GB RAM and that expectedly powerful processor, maybe we can in future expect Software upgrade to Android 6?
If this phone costs anything between Ksh. 9,000 to Ksh. 12,000 then it will be the new best priced Android smartphone. I mean, you look at the specs and decide for yourself. Especially if the screen is full HD!
Some few days from now and you can start buying it from Jumia.
Tell me what you think. Is Infinix launching too many phones, you can’t keep up?
