ASUS ZenBook 14 (UX433) is a thin, light, powerful Macbook Air alternative

If you’re in the market for a thin, light and powerful laptop, one of the devices you should consider is the ASUS ZenBook 14 (UX433) which is currently available at Bright technologies shops, and Text Book Centre outlets in Nairobi.

As a user of a very thin laptop myself, I find it very difficult to ever consider something that’s thick, and heavy. Plus, I am not a gamer. This ZenBook 14 is just 1.59cm thick. And I love that. Because with its size, one can carry it to any event, and use it easily in almost any setting. The great thing is despite its small size, you get really good spec options.

The display is what gets me. Though not a 4K Panel (which would mean less battery life), you get 92% screen-to-body ratio with very greatly reduced bezels. My current device has very huge bezels, and that makes it look very dated. On this device, the side bezels are only 2.9mm thin, with the bottom bezel being 3.3mm.

ASUS says you can get very good viewing angles, up to 178 degrees. There’s the option for two different display types: either a standard one, or an anti-glare coated one. The device supports 100% sRGB color gamut.

With the 50Wh battery, ASUS says users can get up to 14 hrs of battery life. This should vary depending on how someone uses their machine, the programs running, and the brightness of the display. There’s a 65W power adapter included to fast charge the device.

Battery life will also definitely vary depending on which processor you go with.

In terms of storage, you can either go with 256GB, 512GB or 1TB SSDs. And there’s two RAM options: 8 or 16GB.

If you’re thinking thin and light means no ports, ASUS is proving people wrong. On my laptop, I am forced to use dongles, because there’s only USB type-C ports. On the ZenBook however, you get a USB type-C port, 2 USB type-A ports, a HDMI port, plus a MicroSD card slot. This is great news for any content creator. You can easily connect you accessories, and get into your workflow.
