Infinix has announced that it will be launching the Zero 8 Series on September 7th. This will be the company’s flagship series for 2020/21. And from the leaked information we’ve already seen, this time around, the company is taking the Zero series much more seriously.

The company says they will be targeting the high-end market with the new Zero 8 and Zero 8i. Being that they’re a company aimed at the budget market, hopefully, this means that the Zero 8 won’t cost more than KES. 30,000. Given that from the specs we’ve seen that the upcoming Zero 8 will be similar to the realme 6 (which is also coming to Kenya), we expect nothing more than KES. 30,000.

The company is teasing that the camera of Zero 8 will be powerful. The device will have a 64-megapixel rear camera using the Sony IMX686 image sensor. They claim that this will be taking the photographic performance to a new level. However, such are the claims whenever a company is teasing a new device. Let’s wait and see for ourselves when the real product becomes available.

Infinix is also praising the futuristic appearance of the Zero 8 (check out images here) which they say naturally blends with the diagonal design and colours used. Whatever this means. From the images, Infinix is going with a different design at the back. It sort of has the same aesthetics as that of the Infinix NOTE 7, but instead of a circular bump for the cameras, there’s a diamond sort of look. It is not clear what material Infinix will be using, but hopefully, they do away with the plastic this time and go back to the days of good old metal finishes as we saw with the Zero 4 and the Zero 5. Let’s wait and see.

Here are the specifications of the Infinix Zero 8:

  • A 90Hz Full HD display
  • Panel supports 180Hz touch sampling rate
  • Diamond-shaped rear quad-camera setup with 64MP main sensor
  • Dual selfie cameras with 48MP + 8MP sensors
  • 4400MAh battery
  • 33W Fast charging
  • USB Type-C
  • Helio G90T Processor
  • 8GB RAM
  • 64/128GB storage options
