After the launch announcement of the Nokia 2.4, the Nokia 3.4, and the going on sale of the Nokia 8.3 5G last month, today HMD Global is announcing the official availability of the Nokia 2.4 in the Kenyan market. The prices will be set as:
- KES. 13,799 for the 2GB RAM, 32GB Storage model
- KES. 15,500 for the 3GB RAM, 64GB Storage model
At the starting price point, the new Nokia 2.4 competes with a wide variety of devices. The most recent ones being the Infinix NOTE 7 Lite, the Spark 5 PRO with 128GB storage, the Xiaomi Redmi 9, the Infinix HOT 10, the Vivo Y30 and a couple of other devices. HMD will really need to find more selling points to convince more customers to pick up 2GB RAM and 32GB storage for that amount when there’s a wide selection of devices offering that for less than KES. 10,000
Speaking during the announcement, Gopher Ogembo, Senior Business Manager, HMD Global said the 2-series is a fan favourite as it brings many great features such as two-day battery life, an AI-powered camera and pure, secure and up-to-date Android, all in an affordable and elegant package. “The Nokia 2.4 continues to exceed expectations when it comes to what a phone within this segment can provide. We’ve included high-end features like the AI camera with Night mode and Portrait mode. The large screen makes for a more immersive visual experience, and for added security, a biometric fingerprint sensor is included, which is a first for the series. All of this wrapped up in a timeless Finnish design that’s reflected in the Nokia 2.4 colour palette – introducing Dusk to the range – a light, dusty shade of purple that is inspired by Nordic nature,” he said.
“During this uncertain time, an increasing number of people are becoming reliant on their devices, so we are doing what we do best by bringing products you can be proud of at a great value that are packed full of innovation, and wrapped in a stunning Nordic design. It’s important to us to make technology accessible to all and to push the boundaries with every device we create,” Mr Ogembo concluded.
